Senior Secondary School Examination (Class XII)

Programme Overview

The Senior Secondary Programme (Class XII) of the National Examination Board of Open Schooling and Skill Education (NEBOSSE) is designed to provide flexible, learner-centric, and quality education through the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) system. The programme is equivalent to the Senior Secondary (Class XII) level and prepares learners for higher education, professional courses, competitive examinations, skill development, and employment opportunities.

Scheme of Subject Selection

Learners are required to select a minimum of Five (05) subjects for certification. Below is the recommended combination guidelines:

Recommended Subject Combination
  • One (01) Language Subject (Compulsory) from Group A.
  • Four (04) Academic Subjects from Group B.

Alternative Option: Subject combinations may also be selected as per the academic regulations of NEBOSSE.

Additional Subjects: Learners may also opt for up to Two (02) Additional Subjects (Language, Academic, or Skill/Vocational) by paying the prescribed additional fee.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Learners who have successfully passed the Secondary (Class X) Examination or an equivalent examination from a recognized Board are eligible for admission.
  • Applicants must submit a self-attested copy of their Secondary Certificate and other prescribed documents.
  • There is no upper age limit for admission.
  • Admission shall be governed by the rules and regulations prescribed by NEBOSSE.

Medium of Instruction

Courses are offered in the following instruction mediums:

English Hindi

Additional regional languages may be introduced by NEBOSSE from time to time.

Important Instructions

  1. A minimum of Five (05) subjects is mandatory for certification.
  2. At least One (01) Language Subject from Group A is compulsory.
  3. Candidates may opt for up to Two (02) Additional Subjects by paying the prescribed fee.
  4. Subjects marked with (*) include both Theory and Practical examinations.
  5. Practical examinations shall be conducted at NEBOSSE-approved Examination Centres.
  6. The syllabus, curriculum, examination pattern, and evaluation system shall be as prescribed by NEBOSSE.
  7. NEBOSSE reserves the right to add, modify, or discontinue any subject or examination rule without prior notice.
  8. All admissions, examinations, certifications, and academic matters shall be governed by the Rules and Regulations of the National Examination Board of Open Schooling and Skill Education (NEBOSSE).
